Dear Sunbeams Lutheran School Families, (August 30, 2020)
We are excited to return to learning this fall. However, we must delay the start of our school year out of an abundance of caution and care for the health and well-being of our community. Some of our staff have come in contact with someone who has undergone testing for COVID-19. Test results should be made known later this week.
Out of extreme caution, we have decided to delay the start of our in-person learning until Tuesday, September 8th, pending test results. We will confirm that decision as more information is available and share what we can with you. We understand that this change is inconvenient, but we stand by our decision as we prioritize health and safety.
We will begin remote learning through Zoom on Wednesday, September 2, as scheduled for Kindergarten through 4th grade students. Kindergarten through 4th grade families can expect two days of activities to be provided for at-home learning to be completed during this first week of school.
The Sunbeams community thanks you for your support and understanding as we continuously adapt to and overcome challenges that arise during this unique school year. Regardless, Christ stays the same. His love will light a path forward as He strengthens and enables us to continue learning at Sunbeams.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student’s teacher or the school office email: firstname.lastname@example.org

Back to School Summary (August 10, 2020)
August 8, 2020
After much prayerful deliberation, listening to our school families, and processing through all of the information supplied from 0SPI, Washington Department of Health, and the CDC, we have decided to make a more cautious entry into the 2020–21 school year. We are planning to hold classes in-person following a hybrid model that will be reviewed monthly for K-4th grade. Students will attend school in person two full days per week, participate in remote learning one day per week, and complete a packet of learning materials at home the other two days of the week. Each student will be enrolled in a full-time robust learning program with a varied approach. Preschool and pre-kindergarten classes will meet on a regular schedule in person either two half-days or three half-days per week. While in person, we will be following all COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing masks, physical distancing, and regular disinfecting. The safety of our students and teachers is extremely important to us, as is providing quality Christian instruction for preschool-4th grade. For more information, contact us by email at email@example.com or call the school office at 253–854–3240. Due to physical distancing requirements, class sizes will be limited.
- School for K-4th grade will begin on August 31.
- Preschool and pre-kindergarten classes will begin on September 8.
